Happy Turkey Day!

Happy Thanksgiving!
My (Nick) family minus my sister Carly, her husband and their four kids. We were sad they were not here this year (they trade off every year between the two families) but we met up with them later for a movie!
Mya's birth mom sent her these awesome little moccasins for Thanksgiving. They have no traction on the bottom and the second she stepped on the carpet she slid right into the splits....it was pretty funny :) It was fun to get a package from Amy and we really wish she were here more often, she's the bomb!
Our family loves going to movies on Thanksgiving, this year we chose Frozen. Such a great movie, can't wait to see it again!

Holidays are always a great time for us! We both have our families within 15 minutes of where we live. We always go visit both families on Thanksgiving because we want to see everyone and of course everyone wants to see miss Mya! I think now that shes around our families would rather see her than us....but who can blame them she's cute! This year Tiff's family is doing Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow so we spent most of today with my family. We went with my family to see the new Disney movie "Frozen". The movie was awesome (I highly recommend seeing it) and of course Mya had a blast, which makes it even better! Glad to have a day that is focused on being thankful and a day that we can just relax and spend time with our families!! Lucky for us we get to do it all over again tomorrow with Tiff's family.

Our family wishes you a very Happy Thanksgiving! We hope you got to rest, spend time with people you care about and eat tons of delicious food :)

All our Love,

Nick, Tiff & Mya

Crafting with the fam!

I love to paint and do woodcrafts! I've been doing stuff like this as long as I can remember with my cute mom. I love making gifts for people! I think I've passed my love of crafts onto Nick and Mya too. Nick may not love crafting but he loves helping me with anything that I need, he's always so sweet! Mya would paint all day every day if I let her! So we jumped when we had an opportunity to do something cute and special for a group of girls. Our little family (and my mom) got together, designed, painted, glued, drilled, and put together these cute little turkey sucker holders for the girls! My mom and I cut and sanded all the wood. Then Nick and Mya helped me do all the rest. We had so much fun! We've been making stuff like crazy for Christmas gifts and for a little gift open house that I'll be doing at our home next weekend. I would have never been able to get all of these things done without Nick.....he is the BEST! I always love it when Mya gets to paint too, she's so happy and cute when she does it. Here's a little view of what we've been making.

Watching the Jazz game while we paint!
Our dog Louie just laid on the rug in the kitchen while we painted! He obviously wanted to help out with the family projects too :) He's a weird little dude, but we love him!

The little turkey's turned out so cute, we hope they made people happy! Mya even painted one of her own, she's a pro!
Some Christmas trees that we made :) We love Christmas time!
My mom and I designed these this year!

Happy National Adoption Month!

We can't let November pass without recognizing that it's National Adoption Month! Since I am a crafting maniac I decided to make a sign for our little flower pot outside to let the world (or at least our neighborhood) know that the Jarrett family LOVES adoption!

We would not be the people we are today or have the happiness that we do without the blessings that adoption has brought to our family! The two biggest blessings would be our sweet daughter Mya and her birth mom Amy. These two people filled a hole in our hearts and we don't know what we would do without them. We believe that adoption is all about LOVE! It's not always an easy road for either party but it can truly be a miraculous experience. As we've walked this adoption road there have been some tears and heartache but most of what we have felt is LOVE. A pure kind of LOVE we had never felt before. We have a great relationship with Amy; Mya's birth mom. It hasn't been easy to watch the pain she's gone through as she's tried to heal and move forward after her decision to place Mya. But once again we feel the most incredible amount of LOVE from her towards us and Mya. She and her family LOVE Mya with all their hearts and it is so easy to see that. We will forever be grateful for Amy and the difficult but precious decision she made 28 months ago to place Mya in our family! We LOVE her and Mya more than anything. We can't wait to expand our family once again through adoption! We have more LOVE to share and we can't wait to do just that.

This post is dedicated to Mya, Amy and everyone else involved with adoption, we love you so much and you are always in our prayers!

Family pictures

We thought it would be fun to share some of the pictures we just got back from our most recent family photo shoot. We decided to do these out by where we live. There are tons of farms and beautiful scenery that helped make this a success! Of course we think any picture that Mya is in is PERFECT! She's one gorgeous little girl!! Also our friend Emily (the photographer) is amazing she always gets great smiles from Mya and captures our visions. We're so grateful to have her and her hubby as friends. They also want to start a family and hopefully will be getting on the adoption list soon. Friends and family are everything to us and we feel like we have the best of them all!

October was a fun and busy month!

Birthday celebrations...
Both my dad and my little brother have birthdays at the beginning of October. We always get together as a family to celebrate birthdays and this time we went to Tepenyaki (one of our favorite places to eat!) Mya loves that they cook with fire right in front of us, she's mesmerized the whole time! Our favorite part is when we all get to try and catch a shrimp in our mouths!

Nick's sister Brooke also has a birthday in the beginning of October. Mya picked out a little scarecrow doll that we took to her grave. We miss this girl so much!! She was great with kids and we know she would have loved little Mya so much!!

Park City.....
My parents stayed in Park City for a couple nights. We took Mya and my sister took her two little kids and we played with grandma and grandpa! We went swimming, shopped and had a blast looking at the beautiful scenery. The leaves were amazing! Utah is a gorgeous place to live we really like it here.

Cornbelly's at Thanksgiving Point....
It was freeeeezing the night we went but we had so much fun, I think Mya would have stayed all night. My sister came with her kids and hubby too. Plus my dad and brother were working there doing security so it was a big family party!

My cute sis and her little girl Bentlie!

Painting pumpkins....
We did this at Nick's parents house with family and friends!  We had homemade rootbeer and watched Halloween cartoons it was an eventful night!

Witchfest with the girls....
Every year all the girls and kids go to the witchfest at Gardner Village in Salt Lake! We have so much fun! We love eating their fried green tomatoes, shopping and checking out all the witches! Mya loves any time that she gets to spend with our families.

Feeding the ducks....
We took advantage of the awesome weather we've had as much as possible this month with walks and visits to the park. One of those nice days we fed the ducks with Mya's friend Kendall. One of my best friends growing up has adopted two little girls and Kendall happens to be only a few months younger than Mya. They are the best of friends, it's so cute! We love playing with them any chance we get.

United for Adoption 5k....
We participated in an adoption 5k in Salt Lake too! It was a lot of fun! Being involved with the adoption community is something we really enjoy and hope to continue forever.

Happy Halloween....
This year for Halloween Mya picked all of our costumes clear down to our dog! She was so much fun, she loved all of our costumes and wanted to wear hers every single day. At one of the parties we won 2nd place for our costumes! Oh yeah!!!! We had a great time this year and of course ate WAY too much candy! I also just have to give major props to Nick, he will do anything for us including wearing womens running shorts to complete his Mickey Mouse costume! He is one amazing dad and husband. Mya was so excited about all of our costumes!

Louie our dog was Big Bird....not sure why he didn't get a Disney themed costume like the rest of us. :)
For Nick's work they have a huge Halloween party and Nick's team decorated their area as Mario world! Nick was a koopa troopa turtle (sweet homemade costume right!) They won 3rd place and all got an extra paid day off! Nick and I both love Nintendo so this was awesome! It took me right back to my childhood!

Our little nephew Kyson was the old man from UP and his mom was the boy scout! She won 1st place at her work competition and let me tell you it was deserved they looked adorable! We have the best families!

The best thing that happened this month was that we are finally approved and officially back on the adoption waiting list! We are so excited for Mya to have a sibling and we can't wait to welcome another precious child into our home! Being parents in the absolute joy of our lives. We are ready to do this all over again!!!!! I had to add this funny picture, I love how I'm just standing there with a smile, Nick is closing his eyes and Mya has her hand over her eyes! It makes me laugh every time I look at it! :)
